Situation Leeds supports visual arts across the city, creating opportunities for artists to connect, share work, and collaborate.

The monthly Situation Leeds Network provides a space for discussion, skill-sharing, and feedback, welcoming all stages of practice and any medium.

Alongside this, Situation Leeds Festival develops public-facing projects and events, building on a 20-year legacy of artist-led activity in the city.

Together, the network and festival help strengthen the city’s creative community, increase the visibility of visual arts, and provide platforms for experimentation, collaboration, and engagement.

About Situation Leeds

Situation Leeds is an umbrella organisation supporting visual arts in Leeds, providing platforms for collaboration, visibility, and creative development. Its work is delivered through two complementary initiatives: the Situation Leeds Network and the Situation Leeds Festival.

The network meets monthly at Hyde Park Book Club, offering a space for artists to present work, share ideas, give and receive feedback, and make connections. Open to all stages of practice and any medium, it fosters peer-to-peer support, experimentation, and grassroots visibility for the visual arts.

The festival builds on a 20-year legacy of artist-led public engagement, originally showcased in 2005 with over 50 projects by 80 artists. It creates public-facing events and projects that explore the city, connect artists with audiences, and celebrate the vibrancy of Leeds’ creative community.

Together, the network and festival strengthen the city’s visual arts sector, supporting collaboration, critical reflection, and experimentation. Situation Leeds aims to ensure that artists have the opportunities, connections, and platforms to grow, share, and contribute to a thriving, inclusive cultural ecosystem in Leeds.
